What are tumor control rates following radiotherapy in actively growing vestibular schwannomas? In this international cohort study that included 1883 patients with vestibular schwannomas, 10-year tumor control rates of 76.1% (95% CI, 72.7%-79.2%) were estimated when treatment failure was defined as an increase in intracranial tumor diameter of 3 mm or greater within the first 2 years, or 2 mm or greater within the first of 2 years to account for pseudoprogression. Pretreatment tumor size or site (intracanalicular vs extracanalicular) were not associated with worse tumor control rates. The study focused exclusively on radiologically growing vestibular schwannomas, providing tumor control data after radiotherapy in this clinically significant but rarely studied subgroup.
