Later Abortion Care Availability, Quoted Self-Pay Prices, and State Medicaid Acceptance

What are the quoted self-pay prices and state Medicaid acceptance rate for later abortion care among US facilities?In this cross-sectional study of 130 US facilities advertising later abortion care in August 2024, median prices increased from $3000 at 23 weeks to $17 250 at 33 weeks, while the number of facilities declined from 130 to 3; one-third of facilities did not provide price information. Approximately 70% of facilities in Medicaid states reported accepting that insurance, declining as care duration increased.These results suggest that increasing prices, limited price transparency, and declining availability may create substantial barriers to accessing later abortion care.
