Cardiovascular-Kidney-Metabolic Medication Eligibility Across National Survey, Community-Based, and Ambulatory Healthcare Samples

With the rising prevalence of obesity and associated cardiovascular-kidney-metabolic (CKM) syndrome, what proportion of adults meet US Food and Drug Administration (FDA)–approved indications for glucagonlike peptide 1 receptor agonists (GLP-1RAs), sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 inhibitors (SGLT-2is, and nonsteroidal mineralocorticoid receptor antagonists (nsMRAs)?In this cohort study comprising a weighted 245 million individuals in the National Health and Nutrition Examination survey, 30 929 in pooled community-based cohorts, and 84 714 and 362 485 in 2 ambulatory health care samples, a substantial proportion of adults met FDA-approved indications for novel CKM therapies, including GLP-1RA, SGLT2i, and nsMRA.The findings suggest the potential for substantial gains in CKM-related health with greater uptake of these therapies.
