Medicare Advantage Enrollment and Access to Kidney Transplant After the 21st Century Cures Act

In the first 3 years following the 21st Century Cures Act, Medicare Advantage beneficiaries with ESKD had substantially lower transplant and wait-listing rates than traditional Medicare beneficiaries. Policy oversight may be needed to monitor access for this critical, high-value treatment for kidney failure among the rapidly growing Medicare Advantage population.
