Glucagon-Like Peptide-1 Receptor Agonists and Risk of Uveitis

Is the use of glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1RAs) associated with a reduced risk of developing non-infectious uveitis?In this cohort study including 258 026 patients each in the GLP-1RA and control groups, those prescribed GLP-1RAs exhibited roughly half the risk of developing uveitis compared with controls. The protective outcome was greater than that of metformin and insulin but slightly lower than that of sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 inhibitors.These findings suggest a potential anti-inflammatory benefit of GLP-1RAs, warranting further investigation into their role in ocular inflammatory diseases.
