How have wearable device use, daily engagement, and clinician-directed data sharing evolved among US adults from 2020 to 2024?In this survey study of 3 nationally representative Health Information National Trends Survey cycles, including 17 395 participants, wearable device use increased from 30.2% in 2020 to 41.1% in 2024, with approximately one-half of users reporting daily utilization. However, during this period, willingness to share data with clinicians declined from 81.3% to 73.4%, and actual data sharing remained low at 14.2% to 19.2%.These findings suggest that despite increasing wearable adoption in the US, sustained engagement and clinician-directed data sharing remain limited, highlighting persistent barriers to meaningfully integrating wearable data into routine clinical care.
