How does the use of iodine-impregnated adhesive drapes during repeat cardiac implantable electronic device (CIED) implantation affect skin contamination and infection rates? This randomized clinical study, which included 418 patients, found that drape use reduced pocket-swab positivity by one-half and resulted in no infections in the drape group compared with the no-drape group. These findings support the use of iodine-impregnated drapes in repeat CIED procedures to minimize intraoperative contamination and reduce the infection risk.
